JUCO PHOTO: HOW TO RISK IT

We all need a risk dose that adjusts to our limits; from bungee jumping to dyeing your hair blue or buying a t.A.T.u t-shirt, every human being needs a small shot of adrenaline now and then.

Julia Galdo and Cody Cloud know about the limits of risking. In fact, they’ve bought a house with a garden in said limit because that’s home for them; that’s where they’re comfortable and that’s easy to see. With amazing talent they united in the same picture composition, colour, surprise and volume creating on the spot picture that are full of references but that also build their own discourse. Bravo for the risk.

STEPH WILSON: 1992

It’s not cool to repeat clichés and we know that age doesn’t matter, size neither, that you can’t judge the book by its cover and that high school hotties age awfully. But Steph Wilson was born in 1992; she’s 24. 24 years old, which is less that a quarter of a century. She’s very young. And that’s where the magic is.

Wilson lives in London and she’s an artist, a photographer and has an incredibly developed style. It seems that her images are moments in stories where you don’t really know what’s going on, but you definitely know that something unsettling is going on and you don’t really know if you want to stay to discover it. Her discourse on gender and beauty only makes it more perfect. Blessed youth and its emojis.

ANNY WANG: SWEDEN’S LIVING A CELEBRATION

I get the feeling that vikings must have been worse than Berghain doormen, only letting an exclusive group of perfect people settle and procreate in Sweden. I mean, that country is not normal. People are from outter space, social conditions are like a dream and they also have as much Arts and Design to bore a bunch of reindeers.
Anny Wang belongs to that generation that opened the 90s in Sweden and now that she’s 26 her list of clients has names such as Nike, The New York Times or Refinery29. All her 3D makes you want to adopt it and hug it. This designer, that lives between Copenhagen and Malmö, has a very Swedish future in front.

GLENN JONES: FURTHER BEYOND

Sometimes it’s clear to see that it’s connotations, and not word meanings, what really for a language. “Honey” can be an insult, a provocation, what bees puke or a nice word. “Fatty” can be an adjective, a cute way to call someone or a disrespectful name. There’s levels and even the slowest ones catch them.

The same thing happens with Glenn Jones; the reading levels are infite. Behind this easy and absurd illustrations, this Auckland (NZ – we’d love to be invited) born but Texas (USA – we’d love to be invited too) based designer build real wit pieces. From instagram and further beyond.

CAROLINA MIZRAHI: GO BRAZIL GO

It’s the Olympics this year and, let’s just be honest here, we’ll probably be glued to the TV during the 3 weeks the competition will take place; we’re going to watch the trampoline jumps as if our very son was taking part in them. Rio is going to be the centre of the world and even though we love the show, we don’t really care for sports, today Carolina Mizrahi is our favourite Brazilian. Her pictures are a perfect mix between Art Direction and styling and she’s got the good eye. Carolina, we know you’re not gonna be making the moves with thesynchronized swimming girls, but if you had a flag, we’d bet on you.

That’s why, and with the aim that we will all learn, we’re talking about Arrels Barcelona today. LERNERT & SANDER: THIS IS WHAT VIDEO IS

We still have to see if photography is coming to an end, but what’s clear is that Lernert & Sander are putting their money on moving image and, god forbid, they’re doing it good; with very witty concepts, exquisite aesthetic taste and a wonderful sense of humour, this creative duo based in Amsterdam keeps us in an awe since way before La Monda was even born (we can’t quite understand why we’ve never featured any of their work). They might be everywhere, but we couldn’t miss the chance and they deserve a mention here, on your favourite magazine.

PLEID: NATIONAL TALENT

We’re very used to read articles about English, American, Nordic or Swiss talent. That’s maybe because they’re more people if you sum them up (you might as well kick a stone and 432 designers come out from underneath) but, beloved friends, you know that Spain is a big country in everything related to creativity and the Arts… and Spanish omelettes and ham. Today, one more time, we want to talk to you about national talent. About Juanma Mota, in particular; with his fine taste and his newly founded Pleid studio he’s got a space in the market and in our hearts. Sounds cheesy, we are, but listen to me and click on the link below. We’ll talk afterwards.

TASTE OF STREEP: WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT

Meryl Streep is to cinema what dirt is to your keyboard; something essential. The actress has shown during her extensive career that she basically can do everything, that she adapts to anything and that, moreover, she’s gonna do it perfectly, in style, dressed in classy feminism and a praiseworthy indifference aura to whatever people say about her
The authors of the @tasteofstreep instagram account must share our opinion, because they have decided to take Meryl Streep out of the celluloid and put her just… everywhere. There’s no pie, milkshake, pasta dish or pizza portion that can not be enriched by Streep, that will soon substitute the oh so disgusting bouillon cube. Meryl, you’re the ketchup of our hearts.

MUOKKAA: SHIMMER IN THE EYES

Since 2010 we’ve spent some good hours glued to Instagram, no matter if it’s to upload our mirror selfies, to make people jealous of those 8 cinnamon rolls we’re about to eat or to promote our latest work to an audience whose origin ranges from the smallest town to the coolest loft in Brooklyn. We also “invest” hours being nosey in everything that pops on our newsfeed; fun is ensured no matter what you follow, tits, arses or Art. Art on Instagram is Muokkaa‘s case. This Madrid based Spanish designer makes an effort and each and every one of his posts melts our retinas in pleasure. He actually makes us want to learn how to 3D. Fart for everyone, friends.
